B.F.A. – Dance Performance, M.F.A. – Dance directing, STOTT Pilates Certified
Kimberly Wilchek grew up in Columbus, Ohio as an active child participating in basketball, volleyball, and many styles of dance. She attended The Ohio State University (OSU) as a dance major and graduated in 2001 with a BFA. She continued her studies at OSU into graduate school and obtained her MFA in 2004. While in graduate school Kimberly studied a field of dance called Labanotation, a method of documenting and analyzing movement. Labanotation has helped Kimberly with her pilates clients by allowing her to study their movements on both small and large scale and to get to their optimal body alignment. After moving to San Diego in 2004, Kimberly pursued STOTT PILATES certification and successfully completed the program in 2006. From 2005 to 2008, Kimberly taught ballet at Chula Vista High School, School for the Creative and Performing Arts. During this time she also performed professionally with notable San Diego area choreographers, Joe Alter of San Diego State University and Keturah Stickann, formerly of Malashock Dance. Kimberly started working at Fitness Quest 10 in December 2004 and loves the active environment that is created by all of the staff. Kimberly spends her time off with her husband Derek and their daughter Michaela.
