Craig Valency is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (CPT – NASM) and is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength & Conditioning Association (CSCS). He is also certified in CPR, AED and first aid. He earned a bachelors degree from UCLA and has completed coursework in Kinesiology & Exercise Physiology at UCLA, UCSD & Miramar College for prerequisite work towards a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
He has published articles on functional training and has been featured as a fitness consultant for an article in the Weight Loss Clinic for WebMD. Craig was also featured on a regular weekly fitness segment appearing on the Spanish TV network Univision for the morning show, “Despierta San Diego”. He was a fitness training spokesperson on Fox News in the morning, New Years day 2007, on exercises for getting in shape after the holidays.
Craig has been involved in weight training for the last 32 years starting at the original Gold’s Gym in Venice Beach. He has been a Tennis player for 35 years, competing at the Varsity high school level, World Team Tennis and USTA sanctioned tournaments. He has been ranked in the top 40 in Southern California & top 10 in San Diego in his division. He is presently studying Kenpo Karate, and is certified by the ISCA in Kick Boxing for fitness trainers. Craig is also a 2006 graduate of the Wilderness Basics Course through the San Diego Chapter of the Sierra Club.
Craig specializes in developing holistic training programs promoting lifestyle change for permanent results in weight loss, athletic performance, toning, strengthening, dynamic flexibility, balance & whole body functional strength & power. He integrates his knowledge of nutrition and exercise to develop individualized programs for maximal long term results.
